PARTISIPASI PEMBERDAYAAN MASYARAKAT KAMPUNG PUTIH MELALUI BANK SAMPAH MALANG

Abstract

Waste problem is caused by a system that involves many parties ranging from waste producers (such as households, markets, institutions, industries, etc.), managers (and contractors), regulators, the informal sector, and communities affected by management the garbage so that the solution also requires the involvement of all related parties and various approaches from superiors to subordinates. So far, most people still view waste as waste that is not useful, not as a potential resource that needs to be utilized. Efforts to manage waste through 3R are carried out in Malang City. Specifically in this city, the potential for garbage reaches around 400 tons per day, making the government have to find solutions in dealing with these piles of garbage. One that processes is the Bank Sampah Malang (BSM) located in Sukun Village, Sukun District, Malang City. One of the villages that is managed by Bank Sampah Malang (BSM) is Kampung Putih. The program that is the hallmark of this village is the existence of a garbage bank which is carried out twice a week at the RW Kampung Putih hall. This activity aims to prevent citizens from throwing garbage into the river. Residents of Kampung Putih collect the rubbish and then sell it and process it in a garbage bank. The focus of observation is more emphasized on the community empowerment program, which is an approach that emphasizes community participation.
