Abstract

Transportation growth of Malang City has increased fast, this requires the government to manage the transportation orderly, to both the online and conventional based transportation. The objectives of this research are to answer the community needs towards online and conventional based transportation in Malang. The research will be done in quantitative method analysis related to transportation need aspect that is conducted in survey and interview to the community/respondents at random sampling technique as many as 420 respondents. The result is community needs transportation modes as moving facilities, privat and public transport. They rather use online based transportation modes than the conventional one because the confirmed waiting and travel time services. The majority of respondents said was satisfied at online transport (taxies and bikes), followed by the public transport (angkot), and the latest is the conventional transport (taxies and bikes). Regulation arrangement is required on limiting the number of online based transportation modes and certain area of transportation management. The approach quota recommended to Malang was 450 vehicles. Modes and services types of public transport expected to be used in Malang are by providing good transportation services at headway, travel time, travel cost, safety, and services.
